The Great Bathroom Project...Part 1

We are in the midst of our most aggressive remodeling project to date. I think that welding might be the only trade that is not represented in this project. We have done electric, plumbing, framing, drywall and hope to to soon complete trim work and painting.

The best part is that Courtney and I have been harmonious throughout this project...oh wait...that's because Courtney was in Vermont scrap booking while a bulk of the labor was taking place!

Special thanks to my Dad and Louie for hanging with me for the bulk of 4 days thus enabling us to get a bulk of this work done on one of the hottest weekends of the spring!

Anyhow, here's what we have done thus far:

Step 1: Demolish Bulkhead

Step 2: Remove Tiles

Step 3: Remove moldy and rotten drywall and insulation

Step 4: Install new fixtures

Step 5: Install new tub enclosure - By the way, as it turns out, standard size for a tub enclosure is 60 inches. I guess it's only fitting that the space that we had to fit it in was 59 inches. We had to notch 1 inch out of 90 year old studs. That was about as pleasant as an outdoor Catholic wedding in New Orleans in July, full mass with tuxedos as dress code!

Step 6: Install Hardware & Hang Drywall

Step 7: Install Vanity

Step 8: Play with Julia - By the way...this picture happened just today. I was using my drill to put in some screws while installing the air conditioner in back and Julia saw me, left the room, got her drill and asked Daddy if she could help! She's SO freakin' cool!

To Be Continued...
