No Stopping Us Now!

With the onset of Spring, you expect all sorts of new growth and I feel like Julia too has stepped things up to keep with the season. We are actually getting to the point where her incredibly competitive Daddy (I know...I hide it well. You probably didn't know that about me.) is really starting to compare her development with other kids and I must say...she's kicking ass!

It wasn't too long ago that we were hoping that she'd be crawling when we head down to North Carolina to visit Kenny and Amanda later this month. As it turns out, she may be walking by then! She is currently pulling herself along and letting go without much regard for safety. And she just so happens to be a world champion speed crawler. She'll be competing in the infant olympics later this summer...wait a minute; that could be a real money maker!

Anyhow, yesterday Mommy had the fantastic idea to take Julia to the YMCA to go swimming. About a week ago, Mommy had signed us up at the Y. Apparently we need a little help losing the baby weight...no, not Courtney...me. She's done great. I'm the one that still looks pregnant.

So back to the pool, where Julia and I are sitting and waiting for Mom to change and join us. Looking at a pool crammed with about 20 kids in the shallow end yelling, splashing and playing around, Julia starts balling her eyes out. I figure that this will be a quick trip. But then Mom comes and takes Jules into the pool and she's as content as can be. She slowly did more and more, discovering the water and her surroundings and they spent about an hour in the pool.

Julia has also pushed for her Independence on the eating front. She likes feeding herself and fights things a bit more when we try to feed her. Of course as far as I'm concerned, she can keep on feeding herself.

The interesting thing for me with all these developments is that the first five or six months seem so far in the past. I remember so many days thinking what the heck have I gotten myself into!?! That thought is long gone and replaced by what is she going to do next!?!

No Paparazzi Please!

This quality photo was taken of us at the BBQ Festival. You can clearly see me there, trying to ward off photojournalists trying to get shots of Momma. Now we know what Brittany Spears feels like! Courtney is going to kill me for posting this photo. She says that she didn't realize how pregnant she was until she saw this photo. I think she looks great and besides...I owe her for the last post!

Spring is definitely here and the weather has been beautiful. I'm working hard to get the yard ready for summer and the house ready for LBMF. We just filled our flower beds with impatiens, so we should be looking good all summer long!

Momma is working harder, just working. I think she's finally starting to really feel pregnant. She works hard and has not cut back, nor has she needed to, but the last couple of weeks have definitely been tougher for her. When she gets home at the end of a day, she just wants to sit and relax and that is fine by me!

I'm working diligently and I hope that we'll have everything ready! My goal is to have the entire house cleaned from top to bottom before Memorial Day. We'll see how that works out!

Spring Has Sprung!

All the signs are pointing to it...baseball season is just around the corner, Louie's softball team has double digit losses, the NCAA Tournament is here and the new baseball video game is out...Spring is just around the corner!!! It's an exciting time here on Delmarva. Lately it seems like Mother Nature is trying to blow all of us off the peninsula...it's been really windy for a while now. But at the same time everything is starting to bud and it won't be long before we're cussin' about how hot it is.

Our apologies to the regular blog readers. March and April are a really busy time at work for both Courtney and myself and when you combine that we everything that we are doing in preparation for LBMF, that doesn't leave much time for blog posts. As it is right now, I'm missing out on Belmont beating Duke (wouldn't that be nice!) in order to make this post.

We've been spending a good amount of time searching for day care and when I say we, I mean Courtney. I'm glad I have her to take the lead on that one. I don't know if I trust myself to make such an important decision! She's really taken the bull by the horns! I'm confident that LBMF will have a sweet day care hookup!

I'll leave you now with a preview and a taste of Spring here on Delmarva. The preview is that we are not far away from getting to painting in the nursery. I've got about 2 more hours of wallpaper stripping to go in the super-secret room off the nursery and there it is time for PRIMER!!! Courtney has promised to take pictures and share that progress with you. And here are a couple pictures to give you all a taste of Spring!
