Christmas In January

So it has been a little while since we have last posted. We are right in the heart of basketball season, but I keep looking to Feb. 28, which isn't that far away. Right now, I have at least 2, usually 3 late nights a week with basketball games and sometimes wrestling matches and Andy usually has at least 1 game a week of refereeing basketball. So this makes us quite busy, hence the lack of posts! So on Feb. 28, spring sports start and I will only have the occasional late night and hopefully more time home with Julia!

So Julia is still trying to figure out the whole crawling thing. Andy says it happened before, but I think it was a fluke!! She is also figuring out sitting on her knees. Miss Rita at daycare also said she looked the other day and Julia had pulled herself up in her crib. So she is quickly making progress.

As a family, we decided that we would celebrate Christmas with the Wisks on the last weekend of January. We did this because Andy always has the basketball tournament right after Christmas, there is always the struggle of not offending one side of the family by not being with them and when our kids get older, we figured they would want Santa to visit our own houses, not someone else's. (Santa has lots of houses to get to, we wouldn't want him to get any presents confused!) So this past weekend was Christmas!

With a slight delay in our travel plans (and Pop Pop Eaton peacefully watching over us from heaven) we make it safely to Connecticut. Julia was an absolute angel on the ride. We couldn't have asked for a better trip (well...maybe we could have done without the $60 ticket, but I'll let Andy tell you about that!). We had an awesome Polish Christmas dinner. Julia enjoyed her first tastes of Mushroom Soup and Potato Pierogi! We know how much Luke enjoys helping to cook, so we bought him a little cooking set. It had food and pots and pans and utensils. He seemed to really enjoy it, as did Ben and Julia!! Julia really seemed to enjoy playing with the boys and I think they enjoyed her too! Ben loved pulling himself up by using Julia to hold on to. She just sat there...and sometimes fell over!! Ben also loved stealing Julia's pacifier...right out of her mouth!! She didn't seem to care, she would just sit there like it was no big deal!! The funny part is Ben never uses a pacifier! She is such a laid back baby!

Here is Julia wielding her knife from Luke's cooking set! I can just imagine...in her pretty little head she is thinking "One wrong move with that camera and I'll cut you!!!"

Super Bowl Sunday we had our own 'Top Chef' competition! We each made our own appetizers and were going to try to crown a champion, but I don't think we ever came up with an actual Top Chef! It was a lot of fun though! Of course Andy had to use the grill (that was covered in about a foot of snow and ice) for his appetizer. He always has to make things difficult and he even earned a nickname...Stefan. (Stefan is a contestant on the real Top Chef who is very cocky and thinks he knows everything! After Andy was telling me how to cook my dish without me asking, I affectionately called him Stefan and got a good chuckle out of Liz and Nate!)

We had a great ride home and all together the trip was a great time. It was very relaxing, but went by too fast! Especially since we didn't have any time to see extended family or friends that we would have liked to have seen.

Nana with Ben and Julia!

(Unfortunately my pictures of all 3 kids didn't turn out any good ones. Hopefully we can rely on Liz for a good picture of all 3 kids!)
