So a few nights ago, Andy and I were talking about how big Julia is getting and Andy mentions that we should move the straps up to the next slot of her car seat. Well my thought was, that is the last slot, so as she continues to get bigger, we won't be able to move them anymore. So I suggest moving the buckle that goes in between her legs out to the next slot instead. Andy made some remark about how we shouldn't do that, so I get the car seat and give it to him and say, "ok, you do it then".
Fast forward to this morning....I put Julia in her car seat to take her to day care and I notice that the car seat doesn't click into the base as easily as it usually does. I think nothing of it since it did eventually fasten in. I just figured that we switched the bases between our two cars and maybe this one is slightly different from the one I usually have in my car. So I get to daycare and try to take the entire car seat out of the car. On the back of the car seat, it has a spring loaded handle to release it from the base that stays in the car. I push the handle in and it doesn't unlatch from the base. I'm thinking to myself "what is wrong with this thing...I know the car seat can't be broken already!" So I push the handle again and it still won't unlatch. I look at the back of the car seat where the handle is and I see the shoulder straps that feed through the back of the car seat are fastened around the outside of the handle. So when we tighten Julia's shoulder straps to be tight on her shoulders, we are essentially pulling the release handle tight so that it is unable to move far enough to release it from the base that is in the car.
When Andy re-adjusted the straps that night, he put them on the outside of the handle rather than in between the handle and the back of the car seat. I realize that this is probably hard to picture, but it was quite amusing when I called Andy to tell him what a goober he is for doing this! His response was..."oh, I was wondering why I was having so much trouble with it recently!" Then he tried to blame it on me because I was the one who gave him the car seat to adjust in the first place!! Moral of the story....Don't send a Daddy to do a Mommy's job!!! We both got a good laugh about it!!
As far as Julia goes, she is doing well. She is growing like crazy. The other day I put her down on her play mat and went into the other room to write a check and when I came back, she was all hap-hazardly laying on the mat, not where I put her down. So I just stood there for a minute and watched her. Sure enough, she rolled right on over to her belly. I don't know if it was by accident, since she hasn't done it since or if this is the start of baby proofing the house!
We took her to get her pictures taken again on Saturday. She was good. A little uncooperative, but we got a couple cute shots! I will post those.
On Saturday she also got to spend time with her Aunt Mickee and cousins Ellie and Anna. Apparently she was the hit of the neighborhood. From what my mom tells me, all of the kids who live near by had come over to see her! All I know is she slept well that night, so thank you neighborhood kids for wearing her out!!
She is still doing well at day care. The ladies there love her and they think that she is now getting spoiled!! They used to be able to put her in the swing and she would be fine, now apparently they put her in there and she cries because she wants to be held! I guess I can't really complain about that!!
