The Speed of Progress

It's amazing how fast things change. For example, this picture of Julia was taken last weekend and already I feel like she's grown so much since then.

I'm sitting tonight watching the Red Sox game in my living room and I got to thinking...what kind of advances is she going to see in her lifetime? Only someone's wildest imagination could tell.

Two generations ago, we went from the beginning of the automobile age to putting a man on the moon. Today it's inconceivable to make it though the day without the internet, a fax or a cell phone. All of that has been developed in just my short lifetime.

So I've made a list of ten things that Julia will never really know in her lifetime. Granted, it's influenced by the Red Sox game that I was watching while creating this list, but it is truthfull nonetheless.
  1. Gas guzzling muscle cars
  2. A century of Red Sox futility
  3. Not being able to carry your entire music collection with you while you go for a run
  4. Ocho Cinco's real name
  5. The yankees making the playoffs every year
  6. Tripping over the cords of video game controllers
  7. The VCR
  8. Going to develop your photos
  9. Standard definition TV
  10. George Steinbrenner

Who knows where technology (and the Red Sox) will take us, but it is certain that she will never really know any of these things.
