Daddy's Girl (part 1)

Something tells me that there will be many entries in the "Daddy's Girl" category, so I logically start with part one. This little sweetheart has absolutely won her Daddy over right from the start. Courtney was having problems breastfeeding as Julia really wasn't taking to it. Julia cried and cried every time that Courtney would try to feed her. Then I would come over to give Courtney some relief and take Julia from her and hold her to my chest and she would immediately stop. The very first time that she did that, I thought to myself "I am really not going to be able to say no to you!"

She has been so good to this point (and believe me when I say that I realize that we are only a week in). She hardly fusses. She's been on tour the last couple of days, meeting friends, dinner at Tolteca and lunch at the Turtle and nothing seems to phase her. Whether she's awake or asleep, she just sits there chillin'.

The epitome of it was her her demeanor at her first check up yesterday. For the most part, she just laid there, squirming a bit but certainly not upset. I can't even count how many different people have held her, but her demeanor never waivers.

At the risk of putting a jinx on us, I have to tell you about our nights. Night one at home was borderline miserable, but I attribute that to the aforementioned breast feeding issues. Other than that, she's been sleeping in three to four hour blocks!

Last night was GREAT! We fed her and put her down at about 11:30 p.m. I woke up at 3 a.m. to use the bathroom and took a peek in at her. She was wide awake, just looking around but not even close to crying. It had been about 4 hours since she ate, so she had to be hungry and on top of that she had a wet diaper. I almost got through a complete feeding and diaper change without waking up Momma! In fact, I think the only thing that woke Courtney up was motherly instincts, because Julia was just as calm and cool as can be. We put her back down at about 3:30 and she slept until 6:30.

I am fully aware that things can go down the tubes in a flash, but I am taking this in and loving every moment of this! She's a good girl, she's a Daddy's girl and that's alright by me!
