Daddy's First Shower!

So the ladies that Andy works with wanted to throw him a shower. When they originally told me what they were thinking of doing, I was all about it! Anything to get me out of the center of attention and put it on Andy. So I said, of course...whatever you need me to do! Well, they told Andy that they were throwing a surprise shower for me, in order to get a date set, etc. So for about a month or so, he has been bringing up this "picnic at Michelle's" that we are going to. I considered giving him a hard time about going and making it much more difficult for him, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it!!
So we get to the "picnic" and we walk up and they say "Surprise...Andy!!!", but he is too busy looking and laughing at me (thinking that he had gotten me) to even realize that they had said his name! I just looked and laughed back at him and said Surprise!!! So Sandy, his boss, had to explain that it was really for him and that they didn't want me to have all of the fun of having all of the showers, so they were having one for him....and that I was in on it the whole time!! It actually made my job super easy because the whole time he was thinking he had to get me there, so I really didn't have to do much, other than go along with it!

So once Andy gets over the initial shock, they want to play a game. So they sit him down and put a blindfold on him. Then they make him taste an assortment of baby foods and he has to guess what flavor they are. Well the first one was ham, pineapple and rice and Sandy gave him a big ole' spoonful! I was pretty sure Andy was going to vomit! The samples became much smaller after the first taste!
Then they got all of the guys around the table for the next game. They had melted and crushed up chocolate candy bars in diapers and the guys had to guess what type of candy bar it was. I had never seen this game before, but it was pretty cool! Andy did better at this game than he did at the baby food game!!

Then came the presents. The invitation said to bring gag gifts, so we got some gag gifts and some real gifts. Linda lived up to her reputation by making Andy a Daddy toolbelt. It was complete with tongs for those dirty diapers, a clothes pin to hold his nose, ear plugs so he doesn't have to listen to crying, goggles, rubber gloves, a face mask and even more things that I am forgetting! It was awesome. Michelle gave him a Daddy hospital bag stocked with soda, change for the vending machine, a toothbrush, a crossword puzzle book, a notepad and pen and then some!! I'm glad she got him this because he was refusing to put anything into my bag. His reasoning was that we only live 5 blocks from the hospital, if he needs something, he can come home and get it! This may be true, but I always say better safe than sorry! Oh, and did I mention it was a Boston Red Sox bookbag! He was very excited! John gave him the baby's first bottle so he could be just like daddy! He covered a Bud Light bottle and put a nipple on it. Andy loved this too!

We got lots of other great stuff...too much to mention here and we thank everyone who was able to come and enjoy getting a laugh at Andy's expense! The food was great, the weather was great and we had a great time! The best part is....Andy gets to do these thank you notes!!!!

I couldn't find the Bud in the middle picture. Was there one even there? I have to say, that sounds like a shower I would have loved to attend. See you guys soon!
