Courtney's Take....

OK, so Andy's post was pretty accurate about what happened at today's class, but here is my take and comments from the day.

The ice breakers: Andy mentioned how the coaches pretty much kicked the moms asses on the name remembering ice breaker, but hey we are pregnant ladies, what do you expect! One lady said she even tried to walk out the door without a shirt on a few days ago, of course she couldn't remember everyone's name!!! But what he didn't tell you was that we also had to put ourselves in order by due date. Now getting my Masters degree in Education was pretty easy and along with it came lots of ridiculous ice breakers! So I was waiting for the teacher to tell us that we had to put ourselves in order without talking, but no, that part never came. We were allowed to talk, so it was pretty easy. The only stipulation was that our backs had to be turned to the other group so we get in order and then turn around to see if both groups were correct. Turns out, Andy is the only one out of order!! His excuse was that me and another girl (according to her coach) had the same due date. She told me hers was a couple of days after mine, so I'm guessing it was her coach that was wrong, not mine!!

So one of the very first times my college friends met Andy, he was wearing a pullover jacket that was from one of his baseball teams that he coached. On the jacket, it had the teams logo and also "Coach Wisk". Ever since, and still to this day, my college friends call him Coach. So today was quite amusing everytime the teacher would say "ok, coach...." and she would tell them to do something. It was like she secretly knew that that was his nickname and she was talking directly to him. I giggled a few times over it!

So I definitely felt like we were the delinquent kids in the class who mocked everything that we were supposed to do and were joking around. I did feel slightly more comfortable when we had to do this Party Planning 101 activity. Our job was to think of anything and everything you needed to get or plan for if you were having/planning/going to a party. Sounds easy enough. Then the table behind us shouts out Beer, so I felt a little less delinquent, knowing that Andy was thinking that too. That table also gave the answer of "cover charge" and another person even said "strippers", so I didn't feel so bad after that part!

Then we get to the relaxation part: So we are laying in the floor, Andy is sitting against the wall and I'm in between his legs leaning back against him. She turns the lights out and plays this soft music (Kenny G in fact). Then she tells us to close our eyes and think of the most relaxing place you can think of. Andy leans down and whispers in my ear, "Wi Hi gym, you are playing Bennett (our cross town rival) and Butch (the boys basketball coach) needs somebody taped." We both start laughing! Then I try real hard to get myself together and I feel Andy start to laugh so of course I laugh again. We are both just sitting there giggling! Once we get over that, we are back to relaxing and I feel Andy put 2 fingers at my neck, checking for my pulse, so of course I start giggling again! We even gave our neighbors a good laugh when we were supposed to be practicing different positions to try during labor. Of course Andy didn't want to participate, so I was left reading the paper and doing them myself. One of them was basically laying on the floor spooning with your partner. Andy says, in his not so quiet voice, "Oh we don't need to practice that, that is how we got into this to begin with!" The couple beside us just looked over and started laughing. Leave it to my husband...the comedian!

The last thing I will comment on is the part where the teacher is giving us all of these motivational comments to think about when you go into labor. Then, we had to turn to our partners and decide which ones we liked or didn't like. So I'm being serious and I said "I am strong" and "my body knows what to do" and he looks at me and says, "I want Cold Stone!" What a joker!!

So even though it was a long day, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I had to force Andy to do a few things that he didn't want to, but altogether it was a good day. We got to spend the day together and we got 2 good blog posts out of it!

Stay tuned for next weeks episode!
